Hope Alliance - Anti Human Trafficking

The H.O.P.E. Alliance was established in 2015 by Sault Ste. Marie Police Services and John Howard Society of Sault Ste. Marie. It is a proactive/coactive group providing advocacy, outreach, and prevention, education, and harm reduction services. H.O.P.E. Alliance provides support for all parties involved in human trafficking and sexual exploitation (person being trafficked and the trafficker).  The purpose is to collectively reduce and prevent risks associated with human trafficking and sexual exploitation in Sault Ste. Marie and surrounding area.  It provides wrap around services from various agencies within the community to develop a response to human trafficking and sexual exploitation. It honors individual’s autonomy, dignity and improves quality of life by delivering and providing services in a culturally competent and gender/sexuality inclusive manner while adapting to the needs within the community.

The goals for H.O.P.E. Alliance over the next year are to develop a community response plan, provide education and prevention (for the community and committee members) and to apply for funding opportunities.
